Habitat Creation

Conservation & Surveying

Conservation

We think (& survey) before acting. Checking every species is in the right habitat. For example, finding out what bird species you have on-site so we only enhance (not disrupt or displace!) their ecosystem. Suggesting the right birdbox for the right bird. Knowing the right aspect and height to position the birdbox, giving the bird sanctuary from predators, it’s preferred nesting materials and an ecosystem that helps it thrive.

Biodiversity action plans

We create Biodiversity action plans for large and small sites, advising on biodiversity practices to suit your site and meet targets. Developing creative new ways to encourage native wildlife back into the space for visitors to enjoy. From birds to hoverflies (they’re pollinators too!), we’ve seen a wonderful variety of wildlife, often in unexpected places.

Creating Habitats with Purpose

We practise what we preach, bringing inspired and fresh thinking to habitat creation. Applying our expertise and hunger to learn to create safe wildlife havens and corridors for better biodiversity.

Surveying

Survey For Wildlife Potential: To find out what wildlife potential you have, we survey. Evaluating current habitats, potential habitats and potential wildlife on your site.

Phase 1 - Habitat Surveys

A non-invasive way of determining what wildlife, habitats and planting are on your site. We check flora and fauna, like wildflower meadows and shrubs, but also assess wildlife. Have hedgehogs, bats or dormice moved in? We’ll also tell you if anything IS or COULD have a negative impact on the ecosystem.

Once we know what species you have, we can recommend Species Specific Surveys (if necessary) and devise a Biodiversity Action Plan.

Phase 2 – Species-specific Surveys

To improve and maintain biodiversity on your site, we provide detailed ecological surveys – for example: for bats, birds and mammals - to give a thorough evaluation of the species richness on-site. For these species-specific surveys, we bring in specialists we trust and work with regularly, who share our ethos for ensuring the environment supports its inhabitants. An entomologist who investigates soil structure and insects in the soil, so we know what plants can and cannot thrive in that area. Ecologists who survey current and potential wildlife on your site, as well as tree maintenance specialists, irrigation specialists and green wall specialists who consider space and risk management.

Phase 3 – Biodiversity Action Plan

Once we know what plants and wildlife you have where, we create an action plan to set out how we’ll maintain it and improve on it. The Phase I and II surveys inform us so we can devise a plan around ongoing maintenance practices, so it only supports it.

We garden sustainably, organically and chemical-free. Wherever your green space is.
