June Gardening Tips: A Month of Colour, Pollinators and Growth
June is one of the most rewarding months in the garden.
The borders are bursting into life, lawns are lush and pollinators are hard at work. After the fresh promise of spring, commercial green spaces are really getting into their stride, with longer days and an abundance of colour.
Across the Q&S gardens, roses are stealing the show, filling beds and borders with colour and scent. Lavender is beginning to flower too, its fragrant spikes already attracting bees and other pollinators in increasing numbers. Foxgloves are adding height and drama to planting schemes, while meadows and wildflower areas are buzzing with life, alive with bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects making the most of the warmer weather.
It's one of the joys of June: seeing how thoughtfully designed planting comes into its own, creating spaces that not only look beautiful but support wildlife and offer moments of calm and connection in busy urban environments.

Q&S’s Garden Notes - June
3 simple things to focus on this month:
1. Stay on top of watering
Pay particular attention to pots, containers and newly planted areas. Don't assume the occasional summer shower will provide enough moisture, especially during warm spells.
2. Keep vigorous growers in check
Some perennials will push on with a huge amount of growth this month. Thin and trim excessive growth where needed to improve airflow, so neighbouring plants can still get some light and space.
3. Tidy up spring bulbs
Remove any remaining spring bulb foliage once it’s naturally died back. You can also lift and store many bulbs too, ready for later in the year.
These small seasonal tasks help keep gardens healthy, colourful and resilient as we head towards the height of summer.
